R.I.P. James Thomas Hanson, my dad, 9/16/2011, 12:58 AM. I was holding his hand when he went, like I promised him. I promised him I would hold his hand until the very end, and I did. I got to tell him I loved him, and he smiled at me one last time.
He's worked every single day of his life. We found out he had Lung Cancer in May of 2011. We then found out his lung Cancer had progressed into Bone Cancer as well.
He went from working 15 hours a day, every day, to battling cancer.
Fractures in his spine from the cancer made his life a living hell.
His last days and hours were spent on Morphine and Methodone, which kept him out of pain.
He was not coherent except when I told him I loved him. He looked at me and gave me the biggest smile I've seen in a while.
I will never forget the look in his eyes when I saw him go. He was still breathing, but he wasn't there anymore.
I was holding his hand the entire time.
I got to tell him I loved him.
..I'm going to miss him so much.
